Vision Statement
"What others term Mythology, I consider History"

In this quote, Philip Sabado reveals what sets him apart

from other artists of our time. Through the medium of oil, these

paintings are a conduit of Hawaiian history and culture. The

energy Sabado brings to his art can be stated in one word... Mana.

In the Hawaiian language Mana refers to a strength of spirit

and personal power. The images portrayed in his paintings found

their roots from a childhood spent on west Molokai

on a plantation that was set high on a spiritual hill.

Sabado's unique way of seeing and feeling Hawaiian Mythology is

termed 'Pono'. In the Hawaiian language pono is the balance of nature, man,

and spirit. We invite you to share this artistic vision, and experience a time

before the written word. When the world was in balance, 'pono'.
